◼️Model Street is known for the artistic atmosphere.
◼️In addition to the most renowned shaobing (Chinese layered flatbread), a number of other snacks and souvenirs can be found in Model Street.
◼️There are also a number of restaurants in Model Street where visitors can dine in.
Model Street was originally where Zheng Chenggong trained soldiers in Houpu in the final years of Ming dynasty. In 1942, Kinmen County Businessmen’s Association gathered funds and constructed both vertical and horizontal streets featuring arcades built with red bricks.
The architectural design was based on a five-pillar layout introduced from Southeast Asia. Buildings on both sides of the streets are all two-entry houses. The first entry is a Western-style house front into which sits a Minnan-style architecture. The exterior design looks neat and elegant which is representative of the Chinese-Western architecture popular during the initial stage of the Republic of China. Such architectural beauty and aesthetic lies in the conformity of single arches. The area is considered an excellent model, hence the name Model Street.
In modern-day Kinmen, Model Street is home to both residences and innovative stores that offer souvenirs and dining services.

All Taiwan ROC national flags on both side nowThis street (aka Kinmen Old Street) is known to have the ROC Taiwan national flags on one side and the other side has th3 China 5 stars national flag. Due to Taiwan Double ten National Holiday, all flags have been the Taiwan RIC flags since last week. The street is about 75 meters long with special architecture and very popular for tourists.
Cool brick building, but nothing specialMofan Street was a bit more atmospheric than most streets in Kinmen with shops being housed in an old Western style building and was blocked off to motor traffic.

Historic streetA short but well preserved street with historic buildings of a combination of Japanese, Fujian and Western architecture. Mofan Street literally means 'Model' Street, which now consists of a couple of souvenir stores and restaurants. It only takes you 10 mins to walk along the street and have a few photos, but one more thing I would recommend you to do is to try a Taiwanese dessert restaurant there that offers desserts of a mixed tofu custard, taro ball, Chinese mesona, peanuts, etc. It's pretty good.
Nice short streetIts a nice short street with some small shops and restaurants. Its nothing exciting (and there isnt anything really exciting on Kinmen Island in my opinion), but its definitely worth while walking thrue it at least once. From 4pm onwards it should be a pedestrian street, but sadly a lot of mofa drivers ignore that :-(.
short streetMofan Street (模范街) is a very short street which show you the older days the houses, market, shop, etc. of Kinmen, not many shops. Now you also can find fresh market stalls at this area. If you don't pay attention, you may just walk past and not realising its existence.
