Highlights

Step back in time to the 1960s on this old street.

Some scenes of the award-winning 2014 Taiwanese movie "Paradise in Service" were shot here.

Introduction

Yangzhai Old Street was recreated by the "Paradise in Service" film crew to fit into the movie's 1960s Kinmen setting. After the filming was finished, the Kinmen County government mediated in the effort to preserve the movie set.
"Paradise in Service" had the honor of being shown as the opening film at the 2014 Busan International Film Festival, and the 65th Berlin International Film Festival featured it in its Panorama section. It has won Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards.

Jin Dong Theater
In 1950, Chairman of the Taipei City Council Mr. Zhang Hsiang-Chuan made a personal donation for the construction of a theater as an appreciative gesture to the frontline officers in Kinmen. Back in its heyday, when this building served as a major entertainment venue for military personnel, every movie screening was a full house.

The popularity of the theater also facilitated Yangzhai Village's commercial development. Barber shops, billiard rooms, bathhouses and other small businesses thrived.
