There's a small island in the lake with a pavilion you can walk or bicycle to.
On the outskirts of Shanwai town, this is a good spot for a picnic and/or a walk.
Introduction
Taihu is an artificial lake providing water for irrigation and other civil uses. Although highly functional, it has a special feel to it, with its natural shoreline and small island.
The small island with its pavilion is a nice "get-away-from-it-all" spot.
It takes about a half-hour to stroll around the lake. On one of its edges, Zhongzheng Park has some stone sculptures and a children's playground.
