Shangheyuan B&B in Kinmen was opened in July 2012. It's located in a quiet and clean village surrounded by trees, and has many European style architectures. The nearby attractions include Taihu Scenic Area, Ficus Park, Weilu Historic House, Chung Cheng Park (Zhong Zheng Park), 823 War Museum, Father Luo (Bernard M. Druetto) Memorial Park, Chen Ching-lan House, Yu Da-wei Memorial Hall, State Guest House and Haiyin Temple. Shuangheyuan overlooks Mt. Taiwu and the vast Taihu Lake, which covers 36 hectare.
Shangheyuan B&B door
There are three islands - Tongxin, Guangfu, Huaxia - in the middle of the lake, and each has a pavilion. The name "Shangheyuan" implies "A great piece of land". The warm and friendly owner selects all the equipment and supplies used in the B&B as if he was the guest using the items. He chose the name "Shangheyuan" because he wished to provide a warm and comfortable space where visitors traveling to Kinmen can enjoy with their friends and family.
Shangheyuan B&B outside
The area surrounding the B&B is quiet and clean while the space inside is comfortable and spacious. The natural wooden furnitures made of yellow rosewood, camphor and cinnamomum cassia emit a faint fragrance of pure wood. We welcome you to stay at Shangheyuan to experience high quality living.

Great B&B with the perfect host

    5 2019-05

When going to Kinmen, chances are high you'll stay at a B&B. There are a lot of them making the choice quite difficult. I finally ended up staying at Shang Her Yuan and the wonderful host Susan. Besides the free airport pick-up and drop-off, she brought me to Maestro Wu's famous knife factory. Later during my stay she also helped me a lot with ideas where and how to go and also lent me a bicycle. Her English is very limited so it will be helpful if you can speak basic Mandarin; however, we managed to get along very well with the help of a translator app and eventually managed to have longer conversations. The included breakfast wasn't just the standard food you get at every hotel. Susan asked me beforehand what I'd like to eat and gave me some local specialties every morning. Location: The B&B is located on the Eastern part of Kinmen about 10-15 minutes walk from Shanway bus station. That's important because pretty much all buses on Kinmen depart either from there or from Jincheng bus station on the Western part of the island. Between both there are very frequent connections. I'll definitely stay there again when visiting Kinmen the next time.

    Friendly owner, nice breakfast

    5 2016-07

Very friendly service. Too bad I was visiting relatives, hence, few interactions with the owner. No complaints. The island of Kinmen is quiet and friendly. A very underrated place with relaxed ambience, friendly people and fresh seafood.

Happy B & B Experience Makes Vacation Perfect

    5 2015-09

The B & B hostess Mrs. Lu showed hospitality the minute we stepped on Kinmen island. It well deserves number 1 in TripAdvisor for the cleanliness of the room, useful tour information shared, pick up services provided and breakfast prepared etc. Most importantly, this B & B is only 16 minutes walk (according to google map and real practice) from the main bus terminal and travel information counter; and 12 minutes walk from town centre. Such convenient location allowed us to travel freely in the island by means of public transportation at very low cost. Taking into account of reasonable price and excellent services provided, I highly recommend travel friends from all over the world to try out this B & B.

    The Thoughtful Owner

    5 2014-08

We spent our weekend in Jinmen and stayed at this hotel for two nights (three days). The owner is extremely nice and thoughtful. As lots of guests mentioned, she treates her customer as a family member or close friends. Both my husband and I do love to talk with her and also get her advice each day on what to explore. The hotel itself is pretty tidy and clean. It's pretty sweet that she keeps "feeding" us with delicious breakfasts (guests choice) and evening fruits. It was wonderful to stay at that hotel. The moment we left, we already start to miss her:). Jinmen is a very quiet and peaceful island. It's brilliant to rent a car to look around. The owner helps us to get a car with reasonable price, which helps lot. We plan to revisit her in near future.

    This place is really nice!

    4 2014-07

First, the island of Kinmen (Jinmen in Chinese) is very relaxing and pleasant. The boat ride is only a half hour from Xiamen, no visa for US citizens, bus number seven takes you to the capital bus terminal, and bus 1 or 3 takes you to the little town this hotel is in, where Miss Chen will come pick you up. The hotel is modern with nice but simple facilities, good quiet AC, small rooms, very clean and quiet; I got it through Agoda for about US$50. The owner Miss Chen is lovely, sweet, hospitable! She will recommend restaurants and excursions, ask you what you want for breakfast which is shared with other guests, mainly from Taiwan. Her English is not great but she has a translator phone and we got along just fine. The housekeeper did laundry (by hand) for us for a very, very reasonable price. Bring some cold beer and sit outside in the evening on the front patio with the other guests. Xiamen was hotter than Hades (around July 15) but Jinmen is breezy and lovely, so clean and unspoiled, no traffic. You absolutely MUST rent a motorcycle on the island (or a car) and visit the old houses in traditional Fujian style. You'll need an IDL but it's only about $14 a day. Taxis are kind of pricey. Miss Chen will arrange to have the bikes brought to the hotel and you can drop them off there too, because it's a bit far to walk from town (about 20 mins.). The island is too big to bike around unless you're a serious biker, there are hills and it's windy and hot, the motorbike is a no-brainer. There's also nice beaches with super-warm, clean water (but a scary under-tow at the beach near the hotel). In the evening go out and find seafood restaurants (very reasonable!) and try the local specialty, tiny sweet oysters they call Muli (fried, in eggs, in pies, in soup...). The Taiwanese love Americans and since the island isn't over-run with tourists (yet) people are very friendly and hospitable. We spent three days there. Recommend without reservations!
